A dark comedy from one of the most exciting new voices in playwriting, The Moors twists tropes of Gothic literature with modern gender and class dynamics into a satire that looks both forward and backward at the same time. Lonely and loveless sisters Agatha and Huldey live in a decaying mansion on the bleak, seemingly endless moors in the middle of England with only their trusty scullery maid and a rather sad mastiff as companions. When a new governess arrives on their doorstep, under the impression that a romantic gentleman with his children to care for lives there, the delicate balance of the household is interrupted. Throw in a plucky moor-hen, a secret diary, and multiple rock songs, and you've got a whip-smart play about love, desperation, and the need to be seen.
Please note, this production is recommended for ages 13+ and contains some adult situations as well as simulated violence.
