Hadestown weaves together two Greek myths, Orpheus and Eurydice and King Hades and Persephone, with a narrator Hermes guiding the story. It depicts young lovers Orpheus and Eurydice facing hardship and Eurydice seeking security in Hades' underworld, Hadestown. Orpheus, armed with his music, undertakes a perilous journey to rescue her, while the story also explores the strained relationship between Hades and Persephone and its impact on the changing seasons.
