This online class is specially designed for our Suncoast learners in grades K-6. It features engaging lessons and activities that help students build skills, explore new topics, and stay motivated in a fun virtual environment.
Join Suncoast Mentor Annamarina Romine for a Virtual Field Trip into Winter Wildlife! The winters of the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains can be fiercely cold — and your students will discover exactly how animals survive the chill.
In this interactive session, students will explore real skulls, skins, skeletons, pelts, mounts, and photos to learn how creatures big and small adapt to winter. They'll learn important biological concepts like hibernation, torpor, migration, brumation, cold-blooded vs. warm-blooded animals, and more. The class highlights a variety of mammals, birds, reptiles, and insects, including the gray wolf, bison, Northern saw-whet owl, monarch butterfly, black bear, prairie dog, snapping turtle, prairie rattlesnake, and beaver.
