Ocean Beach Cleanup

Join us in making a difference by helping keep our coastline clean! Students will participate in a community beach cleanup from Ocean Beach Dog Beach to the Ocean Beach Pier, collecting litter and helping protect local wildlife and the environment. Please bring work gloves and any other helpful cleanup items, such as a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, or a litter grabber if you have one. Together, we can help keep our beaches beautiful for everyone to enjoy!

Students and families will take part in a guided tour where they can explore aviation and aerospace history while getting an up-close look at aircraft and exhibits. The guided experience lasts approximately 1 to 1½ hours, offering students a fun opportunity to learn about flight, aviation technology, and the history of aerospace.

Join BEST Academy for our monthly Park Days in Riverside County, held on the fourth Friday of every month! These community events are a great opportunity for students and families to connect, stay active, and have fun together throughout the school year.
Each Park Day will feature a different monthly sport or fitness activity. Students will learn the basic rules, practice fundamental skills, and participate in activities related to that month’s theme.
Water, snacks, arts & crafts, and free play will be available at every event. Students will also receive a take-home activity that can be used toward physical education credit and to continue practicing their skills at home.

With guidance from their teachers, students will paint and decorate pumpkins, discover the stories behind Halloween customs, and participate in a fun, history-themed Halloween game! This engaging experience combines art, history, creativity, and interactive learning for a memorable fall celebration. Mission Trails Regional Park Hike in San Diego

Explore the natural beauty of Mission Trails Regional Park on a ranger-led hike! During this 90-minute, 1.5-mile exploratory walk, students will travel through four of the park’s unique ecosystems: coastal sage scrub, chaparral, oak woodland, and riparian. Along the way, students will discover what makes each ecosystem different and learn about the plants and animals that call these habitats home. The program begins and ends at the park’s Visitor Center. This field trip is open to students in grades 1st- 8th.

Students are invited to enjoy Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, performed by San Diego Junior Theatre at the Casa del Prado Theater in Balboa Park. Based on Roald Dahl's beloved classic, this magical musical follows Charlie Bucket as he embarks on an unforgettable journey through Willy Wonka's extraordinary chocolate factory. Students will experience themes of kindness, honesty, gratitude, and imagination brought to life through memorable songs, colorful characters, and captivating performances. The performance, including one intermission, runs approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Explore college life with a campus tour of San Diego State University (SDSU)! Middle and high school students will experience a college campus firsthand while learning about academic programs, student life, campus resources, and opportunities after high school. Their 45-minute guided tour will depart from the Prospective Student Center, located in the Student Services West building at the base of the clock tower. Families should arrive 5–10 minutes early for check-in and a restroom break.

Summers Past Farms Pumpkin Patch in Flinn Springs

Students and families will enjoy a charming pumpkin patch experience with opportunities to explore a small corn maze, play in a hay fort, discover the beautiful gardens, and experiment with pushes and pulls using wheelbarrows. Students will also participate in a Pumpkin Detective activity, practicing observation skills, and enjoy a special fall-themed read-aloud. Families are encouraged to pack a picnic lunch and enjoy time together surrounded by the beauty of the farm. This self-guided experience is especially suited for TK–2nd grade students, but all grade levels are welcome! Get ready for a wonderful day of hands-on learning, exploration, and fall fun!

Students will enjoy one hour of expert instruction in the ancient art of archery. This class will be run by an instructor from Gryphon Fencing & Archery. This exciting session will cover everything from the basics of how to hold a bow right up to covering the higher-level skills necessary to hit the bullseye! No prior experience necessary; all levels welcome.

The Whaley House San Diego Guided Tour

Step into the darker side of San Diego history with a guided tour of the Whaley House in Old Town San Diego! Students will explore this historic 1857 home while learning about the Whaley family, early San Diego history, and the legends and mysteries surrounding the property. During the approximately 30–40 minute tour, students will discover how the Whaley House once served as a family home, general store, commercial theater, and county courthouse, while hearing stories about its famous past and reported paranormal activity. This field trip is for students ages 13 and older.

Step aboard the historic USS Midway Museum and explore one of America's longest-serving aircraft carriers at your own pace. Families will discover naval history through restored aircraft, interactive exhibits, flight simulators (extra charge), and self-guided audio tours while learning about science, technology, engineering, history, and the lives of the sailors who served aboard.

Students will take part in a fun, hands-on culinary workshop at Lil’ Chefs, where they’ll explore the art and science of cooking while practicing teamwork, following directions, and building confidence in the kitchen. During this interactive lesson, students will make their own Chipotle-style burrito bowls with homemade flour tortillas while learning about measurements, ingredients, and basic cooking techniques. Lil’ Chefs can accommodate some food allergies, but it is not a gluten-free facility. Parents must complete a release of liability form before the event.

Students will go behind the scenes at Angel Stadium in Anaheim for an exciting ballpark experience! The visit includes a 45-minute guided tour of the stadium, followed by a 1-hour Q&A panel with members of the Angels’ front office. Students will learn about the stadium, explore the world of professional baseball, and discover the different careers and roles that help make the Angels organization successful.

As they walk through the Garden, students can observe how artists use light, color, sound, technology, and the natural environment to create immersive works of art, making this a unique opportunity to connect creativity, STEM concepts, and nature in an exciting outdoor setting.

Students will explore museum galleries featuring primary sources and interactive exhibits that connect to U.S. history, civics, government, and the presidency. The visit also includes President Nixon’s original birthplace and boyhood home, the Pat Nixon Gardens, the White House East Room exhibit, and other historical exhibits. Through these experiences, students will have an opportunity to strengthen their understanding of the presidency, the Constitution, and significant events in 20th-century American history. The tour begins at 10:00 AM.

Students will enjoy a one-hour instructor-led ninja class followed by an additional hour of open gym time. They'll tackle fun obstacle courses, climb, jump, swing, and balance while building strength, coordination, confidence, and problem-solving skills in a safe and encouraging environment.
Tickets will be provided for BEST Academy students only. Parents are welcome to attend as spectators, but must remain on site with their child for the duration of the field trip. Student drop-off is not permitted.

Join us for a fun and interactive culinary adventure for students in grades 2–5! Students will prepare a delicious recipe inspired by a different country while learning basic cooking skills, kitchen safety, and the culture behind each dish. Classes are held at The Hive in Kearny Mesa, where young chefs will build confidence, creativity, and an appreciation for cuisines from around the world.

Gardening Workshop at the San Diego Craft Collective

Join us for a hands-on creative experience at the San Diego Craft Collective! Designed for TK–5th grade students, each workshop introduces a different art or craft project that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and self-expression. Guided by experienced instructors, students will explore new artistic techniques while building fine motor skills, confidence, and an appreciation for the creative process in a fun and supportive environment. Every visit offers a unique opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind project to take home.
For students to participate in this activity, a completed and signed waiver is required.

Ocean Beach Cleanup

Join us in making a difference by helping keep our coastline clean! Students will participate in a community beach cleanup from Ocean Beach Dog Beach to the Ocean Beach Pier, collecting litter and helping protect local wildlife and the environment. Please bring work gloves and any other helpful cleanup items, such as a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, or a litter grabber if you have one. Together, we can help keep our beaches beautiful for everyone to enjoy!

Students will create a colorful mosaic masterpiece using vibrant glass mosaic tiles in a variety of shapes and colors. They'll design their artwork on a wooden board, then finish it with glue and grout to create a beautiful keepsake to take home. Please arrive promptly at 3:30 p.m. so students have enough time to complete their project before the grout dries.

Students will visit Paradise Golf for an exciting, hands-on experience using state-of-the-art golf simulators. In this engaging environment, students will practice proper golf swings while receiving instant feedback on their technique, including speed, angle, and direction. Golf simulators recreate real courses indoors and track each swing to help players improve their skills in a fun and supportive setting. This field trip combines physical activity, technology, and skill-building as students learn the basics of golf in a safe and interactive way.

Join BEST Academy as we head to Snapdragon Stadium to cheer on San Diego FC on Wednesday, September 9!
Wear your Chrome & Azul and experience the excitement of Major League Soccer alongside your BEST Academy community as SDFC takes on the San Jose Earthquakes.
Kickoff is at 7:30 PM, and we’ll meet at 6:45 PM at the Northwest Gate outside the stadium (Stadium Way & Jacaranda St) for check-in and a group photo before heading inside together.
Registration includes one student ticket and one parent/guardian ticket. Parents are required to remain on site for the duration of the event. No drop-offs permitted.
Families will also receive a soccer activity guide with optional physical education activities and challenges that can be completed after the field trip.
Failure to cancel at least 24 hours before the start time of the field trip, or a no-show/no-call, will result in a $25 deduction from OPS funds.

Kick off the new school year with BEST Academy as we head to Angel Stadium on the evening of the first day of school to watch the Los Angeles Angels take on the legendary New York Yankees!
Whether you’re a lifelong baseball fan or attending your first MLB game, this is the perfect way to celebrate the start of an exciting school year with your BEST community.
First pitch is at 6:38 PM, and we’ll meet at 5:45 PM outside the stadium near the Giant Angel Baseball Caps for check-in and a group photo before heading inside together.
Registration includes one student ticket and one parent/guardian ticket. Parents are required to remain on site for the duration of the event. No drop-offs permitted.
Families will also receive a Baseball-themed activity guide featuring optional fitness challenges and PE activities that can be completed after the field trip.
