The Giver
About
The Giver, adapted by Eric Coble from the Newbery Award-winning book by Lois Lowry, tells the story of a utopian society in which colors, emotions, and choices do not exist, and the memories of the past are lost to all except one: The Giver. When Jonas, a young boy, is assigned the role of the Receiver, he too will share the burden and joy of holding the emotions and memories of the past. Once the Giver shows Jonas the truth, Jonas' world will turn upside down, and he may just take society along with him. The Giver is a moving and powerful story of wisdom, courage, pain, love, making difficult choices, and discovering what it means to be human.CONTENT ADVISORY: This production contains auditory depictions of war, including simulated gunshots, and flashing lights.
