About
Our annual holiday tradition, Nutcracker, returns from December 13-22 at the Safe Credit Union Performing Arts Center. This beloved classic, accompanied by the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera, is the perfect way to celebrate the season with family and friends.
"The Nutcracker" offers significant educational value, both culturally and artistically. It introduces students to classical music through Tchaikovsky's iconic score, fostering an appreciation for orchestral compositions. The ballet itself showcases storytelling through dance, helping young audiences understand narrative structure, emotion, and character development without words. Its historical context provides insight into Russian art and 19th-century European traditions, broadening students' understanding of global cultures.
