Troubles in Paradise
About
Arrowhead Drama's Spring play is a collection of 3 one-act plays, chosen and directed by students!1. Alicia in Wonderland, Inc, written by David Abbinanti, is directed by Sora Eastman. In a satirical twist on Alice in Wonderland, Alicia, a recent college graduate, navigates the absurdities of corporate culture at a fast-paced video game company, encountering eccentric colleagues and nonsensical rules that challenge her identity and force her to question the value of conformity in the workplace.
2. Princess Party Smackdown, written by Don Zolidis, is directed by Tessa Benischek. Synopsis: Olivia's seventh birthday party is going to be amazing. Her mother is going to make sure of it. That's why she's hired five different princesses and a weird alien thing to show up. But Olivia's outrageous demands lead to an improv-ed princess show that ends in bloody noses, animal sacrifice, and probably an alien takeover of the planet.
3. Angels of Bataan, written by Tracy Wells, is directed by Adam Frontera. Synopsis: On the tropical island of Luzon in the Philippines in 1941, Helen and her sister, Sally, are among more than one hundred U.S. Army nurses who have come to the island looking for warm tropical breezes and a little adventure. Paradise becomes a nightmare when, just a few hours after the attack on Pearl Harbor, enemy bombers target their island. Helen, Sally, and the rest of the nurses must do everything they can to keep themselves and their charges alive as they navigate nursing through a war zone in Manila, a tropical jungle in Bataan, and eventually as prisoners of war in the Santo Tomas Internment Camp. Through it all, the women’s spirits remain high and they rely on the ingenuity, camaraderie, and strength that eventually earns them the name the “Angels of Bataan.”
