Terms and Conditions  −  Lakeside Warrior Summer Band 2021

STANDARD OF CONDUCT FOR ALL WARRIOR BAND AND CHOIR ACTIVITIES

In order to provide the best possible experience for all, we have established a set of minimum standards to guide each participant. Participants are to maintain high standards of Christian conduct. The following infringements will result in immediate dismissal from either the Warrior Band and/or Choir: 1) Harassment; 2) Marijuana, alcohol, smoking or other drugs; 3) Explosives, firecrackers, dangerous weapons; and 4) Theft.

Dismissal from the group means that the student will be sent home. Lakeside Lutheran High School Music Parents Organization will not pay any expenses regarding ANY dismissal.

If you have specific questions on the infringements listed above, please refer to the Lakeside Lutheran High School Student Handbook.

The following procedures were designed to help you better understand the Lakeside Music Program:

GENERAL DRESS AND APPEARANCE:

• Dress appropriately in public.
• Shabby, dirty, or ragged clothes are not acceptable.
• Very short skirts, short shorts, halter-tops; tube tops, wearing no shirts (boys) are inappropriate.
• Caps should be worn appropriately in public.
• Caps may not be worn in eating places, or during devotions and announcements.

GANG PREVENTIVE MEASURES:

• For the safety and well being of students, Lakeside MUST recognize the threat of GANG activity in our society and take preventive measures to keep our students safe.
• For more information, please consult the Lakeside Lutheran High School Student Handbook.

AUDIO/VISUAL EQUIPMENT:

• Walkie Talkies, laser pointers, portable DVD players, Lap Tops and Boom boxes are not allowed at rehearsals, in Band Camp, or on trips.
• Flags and rifles are allowed to use a boom box for rehearsal purposes ONLY.
• Walkman/CD/Radio/hand held Video Games with headphones are allowed. HOWEVER, they must be turned OFF during devotions, announcements, and sleeping time.
• The first instance will be to confiscate them. The item will be returned at the discretion of the director(s) and head chaperone.
• Cell phones may be used for personal use. They must be turned off during concerts, church services, devotions, and announcements. You are responsible for any loss or damage. Roaming charges in Canada are high. The use of Phone cards is encouraged.

VIDEO POLICY: NEW NEW NEW NEW

In planning the big trip this summer the chaperones would like to ask the cooperation of band members and parents. The chaperones have decided that we would like to preview videos that the students would like to take on the trip. I think you can appreciate our concern. Today’s movies tend to portray lifestyle choices and language that may not be appropriate. It is very difficult for the chaperones to pull a movie once it has started and if we can eliminate that concern before we leave, it would be greatly appreciated. Please remember students on the trip will range in age from 13 to 18 years old.

All we are asking is that all videos that students would like to watch on the coach buses be brought with them to Band Camp. The chaperones will review the movies and decide which movies are shown on the buses. We are also asking that no videos be packed in carry-on bags. Each bus will have a large supply of movies for the trip. One last very important detail, all videos need the owners name clearly marked on each video. Thanks for your help in this matter.

DRIVING:

• It is a privilege to drive; it is expected that all drivers drive safely. The Lake Mills Police Department will have rehearsal and parade dates, so they know when you will be coming to town.
• Students will not be allowed to ride with other students at any time without parental permission.
• During rehearsals and band camp NO ONE will be allowed to leave the campus until dismissal time or without approval. Violation of this rule will mean dismissal from the group.
• Students living near the city/town the parade is in may meet the band near the line-up area. Please be aware that parking near the line-up area is sometimes impossible, therefore, it is strongly encouraged that the student be dropped off and arrangements made to meet at the END of the parade.
• If the person picking up the student is not at the end of the parade when the bus is ready to depart, the student will return to Lakeside on the bus. A student will not be allowed to leave to find their parents after the parade. NO EXCEPTIONS!
• Parents picking up a student MUST check the student out by signing a release form with the chaperone on the bus the student was riding on.

COMMON COURTESY:

• Common courtesy is expected by all. This includes a quiet behavior at all times in the hallways and rooms (especially after quiet hour in the evening) and the proper care of private/public property.
• Participants are responsible for any loss or damages they may cause.
• When on a trip, participants are responsible for their own room service expenses, phone calls, or other personal expenses.
• Participants are not to remove hotel towels, blankets, furniture, pillows, or any other items from hotel rooms. This is theft.
• Boys are not allowed in girls' room nor are girls allowed in boys' rooms without permission from Director or Head Chaperone.
• Common bus courtesy will be expected.
• Litter containers will be provided for trash.
• All bus regulations are to be obeyed.
• Participants are expected to be involved in all planned activities.
• Promptness at departures is important. Your tardiness will delay the departures.
• Leaving the group with friends or relatives is NOT ALLOWED.
• We cannot emphasize enough that wherever we go and whatever we do, we will be judged by our behavior and appearance. You have been taught Christian principles; your conduct should be representative of these principles.
• When visiting our WELS and other congregations, be appreciative and friendly.
• The members of these churches/schools are opening their facilities for us, and without their help, trips like this would not be possible.
• Everyone is entitled to have a wonderful experience. This is only possible when a courteous, positive attitude is shown by all.

CONCLUSION/SUMMARY:

• Application for, paying the required fee, and participation in this program assumes full acceptance of these standards.
• Final responsibility for making judgments regarding disciplinary action rests with the band and choir directors.
• You will be required to sign a Consent form, Liability form, Medical Release form, and Standard of Conduct Agreement and return it when final payment is due.
